The newborn days are so fleeting and their little features change what seems like by the minute. Documenting those tiny hands, feet, and all the details in-between is something you will look back on a cherish.
When should I book?
Typically, the sooner the better! I never know what my calendar is going to look like so the sooner we can reserve your date the better. Usually around the 2nd trimester is a good start.
Baby is already here. Can I still schedule?
I can’t guarantee , but I will always try my hardest to fit you in if your baby has arrived and scheduling your session didn’t get checked off on your to do list.
How old will baby be for the session?
I’ve found that 10-14 days is the sweet spot. Baby is still in their sleepy stage which makes the session so much smoother. If you prefer to wait, I am ok with doing so, but just be aware the images may look a little different than a fresh 1 to 2 week old.
How do I reserve a date?
I schedule you on a tentative date based on your due date. If baby arrives early or late we can adjust the date if needed as I leave wiggle room in my calendar to do so.
Where does the session take place?
There are a few options for the location of your newborn session.
- The comfort of your own home: The nursery, living room and master bedroom are the most common areas, but the areas in your home with the best light will ultimately be the deciding factor for where we spend most of our time together.
- Studio: A studio session is perfect for that classic, clean look. My studio is located in my home in Clovis, CA in front of a hand painted backdrop.
- Outdoors: Yes! We can even do them outdoors. Depending on time of year, we can create some beautiful images with your little one in a natural setting.
What about wardrobe?
I’ve got it handled! One less thing for you to have to worry about. I have a wardrobe full of dresses for mom. Baby can be wrapped in one of my neutral wraps or blankets. If you have a specific outfit you want baby to wear I am all for it! My bows and bonnets make for some adorable accessories as well. Since my photography style tends to be classic and minimal to focus on your family and baby you will not see a ton of props besides a basket and bean bag for solo shots of baby.
How long does the session last?
A typical newborn session will last anywhere from an hour to two. These sessions are very much baby led. Their happiness is the most important thing and if they need to stop to be fed or changed we will do just that.
What happens with my images after my session?
Yes, you will receive your digital images, BUT let’s not leave these images to sit on your hard drive forever. These were taken for you to enjoy them! Complimentary to your session you will receive a 4×6 proof set with your chosen digital images. I also offer fine art prints, matted albums and heirloom albums for the best way to store your images.
